Hideaway Lake
History and Overview: We purchased the lake in 2018 having spent over 5 years finding the ‘right
place’ not a standard commercial fishery with fish all looking the same, had to have character
and history, Hideaway Lake ticked all the boxes, its had been lain dormant off and on for over 10
years allowing the stunning fish to prosper, originally excavated and stocked in 1947 following a
German air raid, the local mayor used it as a retreat for him and his mates to hunt and fish, the
lodge overlooking the lake was constructed by a joiner still trading in our local village.
The Future looks Promising
Today we have around 2.5 acres of spring fed lake, set in 5
acres of National Park, amazing wild life and tranquil setting,
not your average commercial fishery. We have added
shower and wc facilities, a fully equipped shepherds hut and
3 pods for accommodation all constructed from oak from
our forest, bait and a full food package is available please
see website for full details.
Hideaway Lake Stock
Stock wise we have around 100 carp, 9 that we know of
over 30lb biggest so far around 38lb, catfish to over 40lb and
our mascot ‘Casper the sturgeon’ last out at 34lb, the fish
have been on a proper diet over the winter and continue to
gain weight in a healthy manner thanks to BP Milling diet
programme, many will reach 40lb next year, with the stock
pond and breeding programme we have put in place the
future looks good at Hideaway Lake.
