’m going to get straight into it
this month and start as I
always do with any captures
that mates have sent me. First
up this month is Tony Roberts
who I worked with on the
Sticky Baits stand during the winter
shows. Tony has been fishing the
mighty Wraysbury with the Vor-tex
and during a weekend session fishing
an island margin in the south lake he
had a right result. Fishing a light scattering of 16mm Vor-tex over a spot
that he had been prebaiting, Tony first
caught one of the Redmire commons
at 35lb-plus, but then he went and
caught his first 40 from the venue
when Pawprint graced his net at just
over 43lb. That is a well-deserved
result mate, and I’m really made up
for you.
Tom Anderson also dropped me an
email with details of a 30lb 8oz mirror
that he’d had from the River Thames.
This came along with a couple of 20s
and once again a Vor-tex bottom bait

over a kilo of freebies did the damage.
I know he won’t thank me for mentioning it, but Tom also had a 45lbplus cat from the river which ran him
ragged and took over two hours to get
under control. Shame I don’t have the
pictures of that! It just goes to show
that the Vor-tex is still doing the business around both lakes and rivers.
The other person is Marcus again.
Marcus is also fishing on Roach Pit,
and after a little run of bad luck where
he had lost his first couple of bites, his
luck eventually changed when he had
this cracking old Roach fish at 30lb
4oz, known as the Chunk. There is a
story that goes with it, but I’ll talk
about that later. I’m sure that this will
be the first of a few Roach Pit fish for
him, and no doubt you will be seeing
