Catch 22 Fishing Centre Celebrates It’s
30th Anniversary!
A milestone is fast approaching for
Catch 22 Fishing Centre, as it celebrates it’s 30th anniversary on the 9th
February 2020.
Catch 22 Fishing Centre established in February 1990 at Lyng Easthaugh, Norfolk was founded by Joop
Van Haam. Stunning carp known for
their strong fighting ability were
imported from the Netherlands by
MAFF license. A mixture of commons, mirrors, leathers and linears
were stocked in the Day Ticket and
No.2 Season Ticket Lakes. The carp
are a Germanic and Royal Italian
strain based on a classic river carp
hence their length and capacity for
The hard work of landscaping and
building swims during the 1990’s
brought Catch 22 Fishing Centre to
be one of the best fishing complex’s
in the UK, as it also is today. In both
lakes there are carp to 40lb plus, along
with other specimen sized species.
David Wilby, currently the Fishery
Manager took on the role of running
the complex in 1998. With help from
son Chris, friends, syndicate members
and much loved bailiff at the time Bill
Smithson, the fishery was brought to
the ‘next level’ with facilities added to
make the customers stay more enjoyable and comfortable.
The Wilby family are now at the
forefront of helping to run the fishery.
Wife Rosemary and daughter Emma
joined the Catch 22 team in 2000.
With the much appreciated help
from friends with maintenance work,
t h e f i s h e r y i s k e p t s h i p s h a p e,
enabling customers to be surrounded
by a clean and tidy environment.
All in all, the future looks bright and
Catch 22 Fishing Centre looks forward to another 30 years! n
