Made In England
Andy Muir has certainly been
on a fantastic run of fish at the
Roach Pit this year, and here’s
the biggest so far – The Mug
at 51lb.
Don’t miss Andy’s in-depth
article on his last two
fantastic years on this venue
coming up in next month’s
Big Carp.
Shown here is a 60lb 12oz Belgian common I had last November. I caught this fish after targeting it for over three years! The
venue is a small but pretty hard syndicate lake in the Antwerp area. Several well-known Belgian anglers (and even a very
well-known English one) fish this place. The fish was caught during a 48-hour session mid-November in the presence of my
English mate Simon Hobbs who I invited to fish the place with me for a couple of days. The common was caught at the foot of
a bar at 80 yards, and it couldn’t resist a Baitworks Atlantic Heat/Scent From Heaven snowman setup. The rods used were
Cotswold Rods 2.75lbs Halcyons in combination with my good old 5000 Tournies. Job done finally, and now it’s off to my
next target – a stunning looking typical dark Belgian mid-50 mirror from a local venue. Bring it on! Robby Malfliet.
