WHY CHOOSE OUR TURKEY?
Our traditional, free range bronze turkeys are free to roam across Yorkshire's luscious green fields. They
are hand reared and carefully nurtured from pasture to plate. Using slow growing old English traditional
breeds, the quality of life is of each bird is of paramount importance.
"Christmas dinner is the most important meal of the year and the turkey is a traditonal centerpiece. We
look for slow-growing, flavoursome breeds of turkey which have been farmed as naturally as possible."
OUR TOP TURKEY TIPS
What size does my turkey need to be?
We recommend to account for 500g per person when calculating turkey weight, so 5.5kg will serve
between 10-12 guests. For smaller tables you might want to opt for an easy carving turkey breast joint,
or you can use your leftovers in a delicious turkey, ham and leek pie for Boxing Day.
How should I cook it?
Each of our turkeys will come with its own recipe on how to cook but our two top tips are to ensure the
skin is golden and crispy, you'll need to use a pastry brush or your hands to smear the salted butter all
over the turkey. Our second top tip is to rest the turkey, it's an important process which allows the meat
to become tender and succulent as the juices inside the meat become more evenly distributed
throughout the bird - so don’t skip this stage.
What should I do with the leftovers?
We think a Boxing Day pie is just perfect for using up your leftovers. Turkey and ham is a firm favourite
with us, but you could use up sausages, bacon and stuffing too - just add a puff pastry topping. There's
also turkey casserole or turkey and potato curry, for something different try topping a pizza base with
some turkey and mozzarella - perfect for sharing with family on Boxing Day evening.
