Megan Relph… Covid meant I
finished the first draft of that
novel…
Lockdown; the never-ending dystopia, like a bad
date with countless numbers of courses. I think it
is safe to say that we all experienced some
extreme lows whilst isolated with only our
households for company.
But there will surely be some positives for
everyone to take away from the last year and a
half, whether it be finally spending quality time
with spouses and children, finishing reading that
self-help book with the bookmark stuck in
chapter two for the last three years or just
appreciating regular walks amongst local
nature.
For me, I finally managed to complete the writing for a novel I had stuck in my head for years. Now,
don't get me wrong, it isn't finished and it is far from perfect, but it is a completed first draft and I am
incredibly proud of it. Without covid, who can say if that novel would still be just an idea in my head
or if I would have actually managed to finish it between day jobs?
On a more small-scale achievement, but no less
important in my eyes, I got to spend every day
with my husband and my dog, exploring new and
long walks; meaning that I was finally able to get
the weight off of my dog that the vet had shouted
at me for earlier in the year. (It's a shame those
walks didn't get any weight off of me too, but I
guess you can't have everything!)
But I am so grateful to finally be able to watch
and be a part of live theatre again in a safe and
secure environment. Bring on those interval
drinks and overpriced programmes!
See you at the theatre!
