Has there been anything positive to take out
of the last 18 months?
Creating The Relatives as an Audio piece has
been a huge positive. Originally it started out
as a project for drama school and I started
writing these sketches adamant they would be
for camera before Covid. However due to the
height of the pandemic hitting during drama
school, it became very clear that this would be
really difficult to film so I was recommended
by one of my tutors to consider audio and
wow. I am so glad I did. I immersed myself into
the world of Radio Comedy and discovered
some fantastic shows which really inspired my
writing because when you write for audio the
possibilities are endless! You can set it
anywhere, anything can happen, you can have
one actor voice multiple characters; it's just so
exciting! And I've definitely found a huge
appreciation and love for listening and writing
for Radio, something perhaps I wouldn't have
considered without going through a Pandemic!
So much so that I've also started a podcast
series, 'Nonsense with my Mother', which you
can listen to on Spotify!
Well doing a MA Acting at drama school via
zoom kept me pretty busy! But what was great
was so many workshops suddenly started
popping up online that would normally be in
person (and in London)! Which meant more
opportunities to meet other creatives that you
perhaps wouldn't meet! And I did some
fantastic workshops that I probably wouldn't
know about or be able to do had they been in
person such as a script writing course with
Maddy Anholt which gave me the confidence,
tools and pushed me to start an idea for
another script that has been niggling in the
back of my head for so long!
