5: The Royal Family are seen
here in 2017 on the famous
balcony at Buckingham Palace.
To the Queen’s right is her son
Prince Charles (now His Majesty
King Charles III), who had been
next in line to the throne for
70 years 214 days at the time
of his mother’s death, making
him the longest-serving
heir-apparent. To her left is
her devoted husband, the late
Prince Philip (1921–2021), who
stood at her side for almost as
long – 69 years 62 days – and
remains history’s longestserving male consort.
4: To date, around 14 million YouTube viewers
have watched Queen Elizabeth II’s tea party
with beloved children’s character Paddington
Bear. Filmed at Buckingham Palace, the sketch
launched the celebrations for Her Majesty’s
star-studded Platinum Jubilee.
3: The 昀氀ight carrying Queen Elizabeth II’s
co昀케n from Scotland back to London on 16 Sep
2022 is the most tracked 昀氀ight in history.
Flightradar24 recorded 4.79 million users, with
a further 296,000 YouTube viewers. Her co昀케n
lay in state for 昀椀ve days, during which some
250,000 people 昀椀led past to pay their 昀椀nal
respects. The funeral took place on 19 Sep 2022
in Westminster Abbey, where she had been
crowned 69 years earlier.
2: Her Majesty had a life-long love of Pembroke
Welsh corgis, which began when her father, the
future George VI, adopted one – called Dookie
– in 1933. The Queen (pictured here aged 10)
would own more than 30 of the dogs between
her accession in 1952 and her death.
1: The Queen’s coronation took place on 2 Jun
1953 at Westminster Abbey in London. She’s
shown here holding the ceremonial Sceptre
with Cross and Sceptre with Dove. On her head
is St Edward’s Crown. Considered the most
valuable crown, its worth was estimated in
2019 at $4.5 m (£3.5 m), although its historical
signi昀椀cance e昀昀ectively makes it priceless.
