BORDERWAY
AGRI EXPO
The Borderway Agri Expo has grown into one of the largest events in the
UK Agri Industry, showcasing the best quality beef cattle and sheep along
with the latest developments in farming practice, breeding, genetics,
machinery and export opportunities.
When it all began back in 2007, following a farmstock board initiative, the
team who started the wheels in motion then would never have imagined
how much of an impact this event has made in the agricultural business. The
region is a big livestock producing area and we felt there was a gap in the
calendar for a special event of this kind.
With encouragement from several enthusiast show calf and lamb
producers, the inaugural event took place on Friday 2nd November 2007.
This was a new beginning for Harrison & Hetherington and has evolved over
the years as the event that everyone wants to win.
Anyone attending the Borderway Agri expo for the first time are in for a
real treat. The competition for the coveted silverware and championship
rosettes will not disappoint them as the quality of stock being presented
for the numerous shows of commercial and pedigree livestock taking place
throughout the day will give them the WOW factor.
The day is not all about livestock, we will also have displays of trade stands
exhibiting the latest technology available. Any working farm always looks for
the next new product or equipment which will enhance their business and
make the difference in their lives.
The Borderway Agri Expo event has evolved in leaps and bounds over
the years. From those early days when we started with about 150 livestock
entries and 50-60 trade stands to where we are today now attracting nearly
900 head of livestock and hosting 150 trade stands. The introduction of
demonstrations with new and helpful technology is another step to how far
we have come over the last decade.
A new section to the event this year will be the H&H Land & Estates
seminars. The theme is ‘Focus on the Future’ and the topics up for discussion
will relate from how UK livestock trading is heading, the next generation of
farmers and where the future of rural support schemes will lead.
My role as Event Co-Ordinator is to ensure all aspects of the event come
together in the lead up to the main day and making sure that the event runs
smoothly. With missing the 2020 event due to Covid restrictions, the team
are all eager to make sure we come back with bang and are really looking
forward to seeing everyone return to the Expo for a fantastic day out.
The date for your diary is Friday 29th October and we look forward to
seeing everyone coming along for what will be the greatest show this year.
