Insurance Matters Autumn Edition - Flipbook - Page 5
H&H Safety (part of H&H Insurance Brokers) is once
again teaming up with Farm and Forestry First Aid
(F3A) to help minimise the risk of on-farm accidents
by providing specialist first aid courses specifically for
farmers and those working in forestry.
Designed especially for those within farming, the first
of a series of practical courses will be held on Tuesday
9th November and Tuesday 30th November at
Borderway Mart, Carlisle. The training sessions will last
three hours, with the option of either a morning or
afternoon session, with a certificate presented to the
participants following completion of the course.
Paul Graham, Managing Director, said: “Farmers and
those working in the agricultural sector are particularly
exposed to the risk of serious injury or worse because
of the nature of their work. This involves long hours
and being outside in all weathers, working with large
machinery, tractors, livestock and chemicals, and they
are often working alone.
It is important we remove or manage
those risks on the farm, and we need to
raise awareness of how farmers can better
protect themselves from injury. These
courses will highlight the very serious
hazards they face on the farm on a daily
basis, and help them spot these dangers
and how to best avoid them.
The training will be delivered by qualified health
care professionals registered with the Health & Care
Professions Council (HCPC); each attendee has the
opportunity to act both as the lead first aider, and as
a helper/bystander. The three-hour course covers
important areas such as assessing a casualty, the
correct recovery position, how to administer CPR,
use an Automated External Defibrillator, as well
as learning about the treatment of crush injuries,
amputation, impalement and severe bleeding.
Additionally, and before the courses commence,
specialist training company F3A will give an insight
into what to expect from the first aid courses through
a demonstration during Borderway Agri Expo which
will be held in the sheep ring (following the judging
at approximately 2pm).
The course costs just £99.00 + VAT, so to book
your place either email email@example.com
