Safeguarding Children
Because of the day-to-day contact with children, schools are particularly well placed to
observe outward signs of ill treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse. Parents/carers
should be aware that the school would take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its
children. In cases where the school has reasons for concern, members of staff have no
alternative but to follow the Cheshire West Safeguarding Children Partnership (SCP) and
report their concerns to Cheshire West and Chester Council. In most cases we inform parents
before making a referral. Mrs J Diamond is the Designated Safeguarding Officer with Mrs L
Holroyd the designated Safeguarding Governor. Our safeguarding and health and safety
policies are available on the school9s website.
Equality
At Hartford Manor, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for
all pupils, staff, parents and carers receiving services from the school, irrespective of race,
gender, disability, religion and belief, or socio-economic background. We aim to develop a
culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their
identity and are able to participate fully in school life.
We monitor the achievement data of all pupils with specific reference to their protected
characteristics including age, race, gender and disability. We use this data to support pupils,
raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching. We use the 8No Outsiders9 resource to promote
equality, tackle discrimination, challenge bullying and stereotypes and creating an
environment which champions respect for all. We teach our children to be tolerant of others,
to accept people who are different and to respect differing views. If you would like more
information about 8No Outsiders9, please look on our website.
