Tuesday 18th May, 11am:
Ten years as a special in London with Allen Chubb
Allen will share startling and sometimes amusing stories of his
busy ten years’ service as a part-time police officer, joining in
1974 at a time when civil disorder seemed likely and when the
IRA had started a long bombing campaign in London. Making
over 50 arrests when on and off duty and earning several
commendations, he reached the equivalent rank of Inspector.
Partner in a Belgravia solicitors’ firm at the time, he witnessed
a completely different side to life, sometimes having to deal
with violent people. Allen has lived here for 14 years and is
now Chairman of Haslemere U3A . Haslemere Museum, £5
Tuesday 18th May, 2pm: The Arts Society Haslemere with David Worthington
Lecturer David Worthington will be talking on August
Rodin and 19th Century Sculpture. Rodin was born in
Paris in 1840 and was generally considered the founder of
modern sculpture. He was schooled traditionally and took
a craftsman-like approach to his work. Rodin possessed a
unique ability to model a complex, turbulent, and deeply
pocketed surface in clay. His work continues to be of great
relevance today. All will be welcomed to attend this
exciting free lecture on Zoom. To get the link, please email
