3 Social Isolation & Loneliness
4 County Lines
Social isolation is when we don’t have as much
contact with other people as we’d like, while
loneliness is a feeling.
County lines is the term used for urban gangs
supplying drugs to suburban areas and market
and coastal towns, using dedicated mobile
phone lines or “deal lines”.
Social isolation and loneliness are growing, especially in
rural areas. They can both affect our physical and mental
health. When people feel isolated or lonely they are at risk
of becoming less physically active, often due to low mood.
Equally, poor physical health can lead to a person feeling
more isolated and lonely. We’re tackling these issues
through early intervention, connecting people to their local
community either directly or through services such as social
prescribing, where our Social Prescribing Link Workers can
work with residents to help them build confidence to engage
in activities that meet their needs.
We also deliver The Silver Social, an exciting programme
of daytime arts events that promotes engagement and
participation among older residents in rural communities.

Funded by
Breckland Council
helping the young and vulnerable
It involves criminal exploitation as gangs use children
and vulnerable people to move drugs and money
around the country.
Breckland Council has funded auto-plate recognition
cameras within Breckland district. These cameras will
help the police track suspected county line operators
within the district and develop evidence for possible
criminal convictions.
