or problems they may have. Any comments are then discussed at the monthly iPowerboat Ltd staff
meeting where improvements might be actioned. If there is a complaint of a serious nature please
see section 3.6 for our Complaints Procedure.
Candidates are sent a web link for feedback after each course.
1.9 Compliance with requests for access to records for EV activities
iPowerboat Ltd will allow access to all SQA (Awarding Body) staff for external quality assurance
activity and to SQA Accreditation/Ofqual (Regulator).
1.10 Dissemination of EV visits
Outcomes of EV visits will be disseminated to the appropriate staff via e-mail and recorded in their
course folder. If there are any actions to be taken, timescales will be agreed and adhered to. The
SQA Coordinator will responsible for any action and disseminating reports.
Section 2 - Resources
2.1 Policies and Procedures must be documented and reviewed to ensure full
compliance with the SQA quality criteria. Assessors and internal verifiers must be
competent to assess and internally verify, in line with the requirements of the
qualification
Assessors
iPowerboat Ltd currently has one Assessor, Richard Caves. Richard has been in the teaching and
training industry for over 35 years. Having initially started his career in as a Teacher of Physics,
Electronics, Computing and General Science across the age range 11 to 18, developing the teaching
of electronics at O level, GCSE and A Level.
Since 2008 Richard has been involved with training in the outdoor industry. Starting with the Duke of
Edinburgh, followed by Safety Officer for the Royal Navy Sea Cadets, and lately an RYA/MCA multidiscipline marine and navigation instructor.
The criteria for any additional assessors would include the following:
Experience of teaching/public speaking,
Experience of working in the industry from a production side,
Keen interest and enthusiasm for the small commercial vessel industry.
Assessor Requirements
All new assessors will be required to have the following experience to be eligible to deliver courses
at iPowerboat Ltd;
Experience delivering navigation training courses in the maritime sector.
Experienced in the use of electronic chart plotting equipment.
