FAQs
Who are the sta昀昀?
The Music Team of conductors, tutors, accompanists, vocal and instrumental coaches are experts in their 昀椀eld. A quali昀椀ed
child safeguarding o昀케cer, nurse and a team of experienced pastoral sta昀昀 are present throughout. Our Pastoral Team are
experienced in suppor琀椀ng young people during their stay ensuring their safety, comfort and well-being throughout. Pastoral
team members stay in the same accommoda琀椀on houses as the students so there is always someone on hand to help if
needed.
We engage a Student Welfare O昀케cer who remains on-site during all courses and is available should any student wish to
talk with someone other than from the music or pastoral team. All Kent Music Summer School and Benenden School sta昀昀
members have Full Disclosure DBS cer琀椀昀椀cates and are current with Child Safeguarding training. In addi琀椀on to an on-site
nurse, many of the team have 昀椀rst aid training.
What if my child has another commitment during the course?
We understand some琀椀mes there are exis琀椀ng commitments to school or for music exams where they may need to arrive late
or be o昀昀-site for a 琀椀me during the course. Please ask for an o昀昀-site/late arrival request form from kmss@kent-music.com
Can my child be non-residen琀椀al?
It is our belief young musicians gain maximum bene昀椀t from being residen琀椀al where they can join both the musical and social
aspects of the course. If you prefer them not to stay overnight this can be arranged, however please bear in mind that you
will need to drop-o昀昀 at 8.45am and collect at 8.15pm each day except for the 昀椀rst morning and post-concert collec琀椀on.
There is no reduc琀椀on in fee for being non-residen琀椀al. Please email kmss@kent-music.com if you would like them to a琀琀end
on a non-residen琀椀al basis.
