history of
the manoir...
In 1899, the Richelieu & Ontario
Navigation Company built in
Pointe-au-Pic, a 250-room luxury
hotel made entirely of wood, serving
cruise ship passengers on sumptuous
steamboats. The Pointe-au-Pic sector,
the true cradle of resort tourism in
Quebec, was already, at that time, a
very popular resort and one of the
best known in North America,
welcoming guests who were fleeing
the big cities in search of fresh air and
wide open spaces, to spend quality
time with their families.
In 1928, a major fire razed the Manoir
to the ground and the hotel was
quickly rebuilt, this time in concrete,
and opened its doors again in June
1929.
A salt water swimming pool and a
casino, intended for shows and
dances, were then the two new
attractions of the Manoir Richelieu.
On June 8 and 9, 2018, Fairmont Le
Manoir Richelieu hosted the G7
Summit in Charlevoix and welcomed
the world’s greatest leaders.
A long tradition of hospitality... for
more than 120 years.
