Peterlee & Horden RFC
Horden Rugby
Football Club
was established on 17th July 1925
and 95 years on has gone from
strength to strength. Aer 91 years
based in Horden and with the
future in mind a decision was
made to relocate to Peterlee. In
July 2016, the club took over the
site of Peterlee Football Club on
Eden Hill. The clubhouse was a
wreck and in conjuncon with
Peterlee Town Council a renovaon
project began.
On Sunday 27th September 2020
the Ladies team played a Covid
restricted game which featured six
mothers & their daughters, that
must have been a rst.
Hundreds of volunteer man hours
were put in by Club members to
turn the building into the splendid
venue it is now. The success would
not have been possible without the
connued support of Peterlee Town
Council.
The club is also a community hub
and the base for Eden Hill Peoples
Centre which provides excellent
support to the residents of the area.
During the summer holidays they
provide meals and acvies for the
local children and hold Halloween &
Christmas events. On a Thursday
night the club hosts a social evening
for the deaf and hearing impaired.
The move has proved to be a
success with a massive increase in
playing numbers especially amongst
the Junior secons. The Club caters
for over 250 children and young
people from Tiny Terrors who start
from the age of 3 years up to the
under 17 Colts’ team. There are
girls’ teams at under 13 & 15 plus a
Ladies team.
