Background
Since the beginning of March, CALM has been establishing
their wonderful new site on Lowhills Road. The old bowling
green venue is steadily being transformed into a peaceful
holisc site for the whole community. Working closely with
Peterlee Town Council, local businesses such as Howden
Joinery, MKM and Buildbase, Believe Housing, Engie, local
tradesmen Gary Ward, Glyn Davies and a host of other
volunteers they have upgraded the tea pavilion and outside
space to create a warm and welcoming environment for the
whole community. The grounds oer a relaxing, peaceful
space for the community to come and quietly relax and
take me out or get involved by supporng CALM with
spare me or take part in classes.
The long-term vision for the site is a holisc village which
will oer many acvies such as gardening, DIY, man clubs,
vocaonal workshop, a café, cras group, yoga, meditaon
and social meeng place for the whole community as well
as building on their yogic principles of co-operave living,
kindness and a posive atude to life.
A new community pod, funded by Peterlee Town Council, is
due for construcon before Christmas which will provide
space for classes ran by CALM as well as being available for
other community groups to use. The original bowling green
area has seen dance groups, dog obedience training and
Nordic walking groups take advantage of the outdoor space
over the summer and will also be available ongoing for
outdoor community use. CALM welcomes any interested
pares to get in touch for indoor or outdoor space.
