Investment to Improve Grassroots
community football facility
Peterlee Town Council turned the
closure of its Helford Road Community &
Sports facilies during lockdown into a
posive by invesng in resurfacing the
Mul Use Games Area (MUGA). The 12
year old exisng facility was in need of
an upgrade and the closure of facilies
presented an ideal opportunity to
replace the surface with minimum
disrupon to our users.
The new dynamic arcial surface was
installed by Greeneld’s, who are a
member of the FIFA and World Rugby
preferred turf provider’s scheme. The
resurfacing took 7 weeks to complete, a
lile longer than planned due to the
impact Covid had on suppliers, but well
worth the wait.
Sharon Pounder; Sport and Wellbeing
Manager for Peterlee Town Council said
“We are delighted with the resurfacing
work and the posive feedback received
from our user groups. The new surface
will hopefully enhance the playing
experience for our grassroots community
teams and clubs”.
