Woodhouse Park Community Garden Group
The Woodhouse Park community group
are a small, dedicated group who have big
ideas for the future. Using the medium of
Horculture, they intend to sow, grow
and hopefully mulply into using the
newly extended community garden
situated in Woodhouse Park, Balliol Close,
Peterlee, SR8 1NX.
Working hand in hand with Peterlee Town
Council & other partner organisaons such
as Durham Police the group have already
won the coveted Durham Environment
Partnership Award in 2019 and are keen to
carry on good work by promong the
growing of plants and vegetables in a safe
urban environment.
As a group the main aim for the remainder
of 2020 & 2021 is to recruit more “handson” volunteers to help manage the exisng
garden and are keen for ideas such as how
to use and manage the newly acquired
space with the group.
Ideas currently being considered are:
• Refurbishment of raised beds for
planng vegetables
• Tree planng (incorporang Fruit and
edible nuts)
• So fruit areas
• Sensory garden area
• Community noce boards
If you feel you have the me and energy
and are prepared to work with like-minded
Peterlee residents who genuinely care
about their environment and have the “get
up and go” to learn, educate and develop
new skills and bring exisng ones, then
Woodhouse Community garden could be
just right for you.
