Limbering up over Lockdown
‘Doing our bit to keep everyone Fit’
While everyone was conned to their own
homes during lockdown, the Town
Council’s Sport and Wellbeing sta were
doing their bit to keep the people of
Peterlee moving and movated.

Whilst working from home, Sharon and
Elaine from the Town Council’s Sport and
Wellbeing Department delivered exercise
classes live on social media three mes a
week. These classes oered a mixture of
high and low impact exercises suitable for
all levels of tness and were free for
everyone to access via the PACES Facebook
page.

thought it was really important for people’s
mental health as well as physical health to
provide on-going access to exercise sessions
throughout challenging mes”.

classes for the local community. PACES help
you get er, feel healthier, happier and to
reduce social isolaon and loneliness.

six months ...
There is no doubt that the pandemic has
been dicult for many of us in dierent
ways, and exercise is top of the list for
improved mental health and wellbeing. On
the phase return to the Pavilion,
Government restricons were sll in place
which meant that PACES members could not
return to the Pavilion and exercise classes

were delivered via Zoom so that everyone
could interact and physically see each other
from the comfort of their own homes. The
Pavilion welcomed parcipants back at the
beginning of September, providing a Covid
safe environment with restricted numbers
for each class to ensure social distancing is
maintained.

Manager for Peterlee Town Council said,

own homes and the fact that not everyone
