Sta昀昀 have long reported spooky sights and
sounds in Belfast Central.
Once upon a time, an unassuming sta昀昀
member took some books from the shelves
and was met by a ghostly face looking back. A
former librarian, forever looking for a missing
book perhaps?
One fateful evening a building attendant (whose
anonymity is a closely guarded secret) was
locking up the library annexe building. Cheerily
going about his duties, he exited the lift, turned
a corner and met the eye of a legless 昀椀gure
by the window. Terri昀椀ed, he turned to run as
the phantom fast approached, he got back in
the lift in the nick of time and it’s been said he
hasn’t been the same since. What’s even more
spooky is the sighting took place on the site of
the old Brown Horse bar, which was believed to
be haunted!
It’s also been told that early in the morning, if
you listen very carefully, you might hear keys
clinking in the Heritage Department.
Have you seen a spectre in the shelves, an
apparition in the adult 昀椀ction, a banshee in the
biographies?

ghost stories with us!
