SHINFIELD INFANT AND NURSERY SCHOOL
H
ello everyone. By the
time you read this,
we may or may not
have reopened the school
to more children. We have
really missed seeing all
our children and families
in school but have been in
touch with them all in so
many ways. The lockdown
has opened up many new
opportunities for children’s
learning, developing family
relationships, and enabling
staff to try new ways of
teaching that we would not
have done until now. I hope
that when the school does
reopen fully, we will be able
to come back with new eyes,
and bring back all the new
things we have learnt.
We have enjoyed working
with our small group of
children in school and
they have impressed us so
much with their bravery in
coming to what has been
quite a different school
environment. They have
cheered us every day that
we have spent together, and
they are a credit to their key
worker parents who go to
work to support our country
each day.
Normally, in the summer
edition of Loddon Reach, I
would be saying a goodbye
to our lovely Year 2 children,
some of whom have been
with us for four years since
they started Nursery. Although they may not all be
back in school by the time you read this, we have
• CARPENTRY & JOINERY
• BESPOKE STORAGE SOLUTIONS
• EXTENSIONS
• RENOVATION WORK

friends and
family join them. They felt very
loved indeed. All the guests looked
so very wonderful, incredible hats
were on display, beautiful party
dresses, the event was a very stylish
affair. Harry and Betty have vowed
to follow the three key principles of
Shinfield Infant School throughout
their marriage, those are being
ready, to be respectful at all times
and to keep one another safe. You’ll
also be pleased to know there
planned some unique celebrations with them to
mark their time with us and wish them well for
Junior School.
You may have noticed a social gathering
outside the school in recent weeks… F2 helped
to celebrate The Scarecrows’ Wedding after
hearing Julia Donaldson’s story read to them by
their teacher online (with publisher permission,
of course). Albeit a windy day, Harry O’Hay and
Betty O’Barley were married on Sunday 10th
May! You can watch their charming ceremony
on the F2 Facebook Group ‘Shinfield Infants F2/
Reception Class (2019).’ Harry and Betty were
utterly delighted with all the distinguished
guests that could make their big day – it was such
a special occasion to see their community of
was also thankfully no sign of Reginald Rake.
Congratulations to our newlyweds Mr and Mrs
O’Hay!
Here are also some highlights from the
home learning shared with us by the
parents, who we think deserve a big
shout out for the wonderful support
they have given their children and the
school!
Looking forward to hopefully being back
together in September. Have a lovely
summer and stay safe and well. With
best wishes to you all.
