who need it most – the vulnerable, the
sick and the families of those who are ill

CHURCH BUILDINGS CLOSED – BUT CHURCH IS MORE THAN A BUILDING!
Staying connected: There is now a benefice-wide
newsletter and email sent to each parish’s church
members and those on their Electoral Roll. It will
have information on bible readings, a time of
reflection, Sunday services being streamed within
the Diocese, Bible study, prayer gatherings and
how we can help one another from a distance.
Don’t forget to ensure that we have your details
(and permission to use them). Please contact us
on 0118 988 5923. The benefice newsletter for
each Sunday can be viewed on the home page of
the Loddon Reach website.
Prayer resources
• Midday prayer will now be via Zoom – click
here. All welcome. Please email the office if
assistance is required to access the meeting.

Evening prayer (Compline) will now be via
Zoom – click here. All welcome. Please email

• You will also find, on the Church of England
website, a page which contains several
different prayers and you can download the
daily prayer app for Apple or Android devices
as well as accessing daily prayer online. There
is also a Time to Pray app – everything you
need for Prayer During the Day, with variations
according to the day of the week and the season
of the Church’s year for Apple or Android.
• There is a Lectio365 daily devotional prayer
app for Apple or Android.
• If you would like to have a Bible app on your
phone, click here or the Bible in one year has
some examples.
• There’s Diocesan Worship on Sundays and
Holy Days on 01865 920 930. You need to dial
0 for the short service or 1 for the full Church at
Home.
• Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections
as well as full worship services from the Church
of England at the end of a telephone line. The
line – which is available 24 hours a day on 0800
804 8044 – has been set up particularly with
those unable to join online church services
during the period of restrictions in mind.
• Bishop Steven has now begun a regular series
of reflective podcasts aiming to resource the
Church in this period of lockdown. The first is an
exploration of Psalm: The first reflection is – Like
a tree planted by streams of water. The second
reflection is – You are my Son. The third reflection
is – The Lord sustains me. The fourth reflection
is – Commune with your heart and be still
Easter Resources
Archbishops Justin Welby and John Sentamu are
inviting the whole Church to take 40 days this
Easter season to explore the Lord’s prayer as the
world endures the coronavirus pandemic.
Pilgrim Journeys: The Lord’s Prayer is available as
a free app for Apple or Android with new content
from Bishop Steven for 2020. Alternatively, sign
up for a daily email or listen to the daily reflections
via Alexa and Google devices.
Reflections: Also all 14 Stations of the cross are
available to view here

9.30am led by David Little. If anyone needs a

above. If you are joining with children please

information about the 10.00am service, and the
craft activity.
The Church of England have lots of resources
to help you pray including this worship at home
document. There are live stream options for
Sunday worship from Oxford Diocese with Bishop
Steven, and there’s the Church of England service.
Services on Sunday on BBC are Worship on Sunday
and Songs of Praise – please check the times each
week as they alter slightly.
Wellbeing: Research shows that the stay-at-home
and social isolation guidelines are putting huge
pressures on family life. This helpful guide has
been put together by a range of agencies including
the local NHS, local authorities and the Berkshire
West Safeguarding Children Partnership. You may
wish to have a look at this document produced by
the Church of England about looking after your
mental health during this time. There’s also the
Soul time Christian meditation & Mindfulness app
for Apple or Android or 3 minute retreat app for
Apple or Android or online.
