GREEN PARTY EXECUTIVE (GPEX)
A: CHAIR
Liz Reason*
The Green Party Executive is responsible for the overall
and day-to-day direction of the Party. Such responsibilities
include ensuring the proper expenditure, administration,
and raising of funds; acting as the Green Party’s employer
of staff; implementing the decisions of the Annual
Conference; and being liable for the governance and
smooth functioning of the organisation.
GPEx fulfils many of its responsibilities through the Chief
Executive Officer and the staff team. GPEx members are
expected to be ready and able, and are encouraged to
challenge and test proposals and plans put forward by the
CEO, and to provide independent insight and scrutiny of the
party’s operations.
GPEx also has a number of sub-committees –
Administration and Finance (AFCom), External
Communications, Campaigns and Communications, and
Development - which allow for more detailed oversight
of key issues between meetings, and reporting back to
GPEx at every meeting. Other committees – Political
Committee, Policy Development, Elections Steering Group
and International Committee – are all required to report
back regularly to GPEx.
During the course of the year, GPEx has agreed to:
Significant growth in the elections team as part of
our forward planning for the next General election
Updating of the party’s safeguarding policy and
whistle-blowing procedure
Campaigns Coordinator
The Campaigns Coordinator resigned in June. A new
coordinator has been co-opted but has yet to attend a
meeting.
Local Party Support Coordnator
This post has remained vacant awaiting the conclusion of a
disciplinary process.
[SOC note: A member was validly elected to the position
in 2019 and is unable to carry out the role for the reason
stated. If the role were vacant GPEx would be required to
co-opt to it.]
B: MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
Florence Pollock and Matt Browne*
As Management Coordinator job-share we have been
working to champion professionalism and inclusivity, as we
promised when elected in 2020.
The Green Party Human Resources function has seen
real growth over the past year, and we thank Green Party
CEO Mary Clegg & COO Rob Buckman for prioritising this,
and for the Green Party’s HR Manager Sam Davies for
delivering it brilliantly. A new recruitment system is being
used which moves away from the old-fashioned CV based
approach, which can discriminate against people with
non-traditional experiences, instead assessing candidates
based on their applied skills. Recruitment has been
