ANTAGRADE CONTRACTED
TO CARRY OUT ISLE OF WIGHT
SWITCHBOARD WORKS
Commencing in January 2021, Antagrade will replace fatigued
switchboards at three Isle of Wight substations.
As part of a £26m government investment in the Isle of Wight
railway line, switchboards at three Isle of Wight substations are
being updated to modern standards. The substations, located
at Ryde, Rowborough and Sandown, will all have new DC
switchboards, as well as upgrades to the incoming High
Voltage supplies.
This forms part of a comprehensive package of works
including track upgrades and platform extensions that will be
carried out as part of the improvements to the Isle of Wight
12
railway line over a three-month shutdown, with new trains and
an enhanced service being introduced.
Antagrade will disconnect, dismantle and replace the old
equipment and DC track feeder cables, as well as the heating,
lighting and services whilst coordinating with the works to
upgrade the High Voltage supplies.
The value of the works is over £200,000 and is due to be
completed by the second quarter of 2021.
