The Jewel and the rst Word
OK. Now I, this writer, he just wants to stop and reconsider.
As has been said before, this is the third book of a series. And honestly, as things
go along, my way of looking just keeps expanding. Always for the deeper, always into
something that is more profoundly simple.
The difficulty lies in how to communicate this simplicity.
The principle of this way of meditation and prayer is that it is reachable by everyone,
every single being in this whole Creation. The ‘essential text’ is the centre of it all. That
we let the Name of Jesus rise and fall on our breath. This text, this empowerment, is in
every version of these books. And so here it is again. It matches perfectly with the first
moment of our Lord’s teaching. The moment of the Jewel and the First Word.
With the inbreath sound silently in your mind
the first syllable “ JE...which smoothly without
interruption turns around into the outbreath
on the syllable SUS.”
Really, that’s all there is. Nothing else matters much.
Secondary to this is this matter of fact. That something as simple as this, if we accept it
to be true, has the potential to expand into a hundred thousand volumes of appreciation.
It can walk through the darkest corridors and the outer stars, the high and the hidden
deep, the moon and the sun. It touches all of Creation. There is no place where the Word
of God does not exist.
