the White Stone

To understand death is a major challenge for all of us. All of mankind. A great
deal of living in the modern world seems designed to pull our attention away from
the greater issues of life and death. Often we chose distraction. This life, this
world is awesome and unbelievably beautiful. But I think we would be fools to
ignore the difficult issues. Death will come to us all. Illness will come to us all.
Difficulty is part of everyones experience. We all suffer. Young, old, rich, poor,
high and low.
This recognition is what set the Buddha out on his path. To find understanding
and the find meaning of existence. For the release of suffering. For all humanity.
We are all frightened of the ending of this life. Its a good thing to recognize this
and maybe use it to find out more about ourselves. By whatever means or way. I’m
not just trying to promote what’s written here. It really doesn’t matter how. But it
has to be real. We need real in life and we need real in death. Its very frightening.
When we think about it its genuinely terrifying.
