LIFT ME UP !
(Kevin de Las Casas / Media Hebrides)
Lift me up to your higher ground,
where the sun shines beyond the clouds
and I can see the glory of your ways.....
Lift me up Lord
Lift me up!
You walked this world of dust and clay,
shared with us all our joy and pain
Jesus Christ our saviour and our King...
Bridge
I will be that little child, full of trust and
wonder
as you pass into the glory of the skies,
and your radiance expands, far beyond the
oceans and the land,
into the mystery of evermore.
Lift me up Lord....
Lift me up!
Verse:
and I would hold you close to me
my strength and heart in all my times of need, Thy Kingdom come, Lord,
you will always be my Lord...
let there be peace,
Lift me up Lord...
the rain falls from heaven, wash down our
Lift me up!
troubles,
Lift me up Lord...
you gave away your life for us,
Lift me up!
so we could understand how great is love,
God our Father and our King....
and I would hold you close to me,
my strength and heart in all my times of need,
you will always be my Lord.....
Lift me up Lord....
Lift me up!
This was the first Gospel song I ever wrote. It came out of nowhere or so it seemed. I
wrote it as a hymn in 4/4. A bit dirgy. That same day my friend Andy Clark who used to
work a lot in my studio came by and I ran it by him. Andy loved Gospel music. He
would listen to Gospel radio in the States. He said to me, Kev, you need to move this
over into 3/4 and make it into a Gospel song. Thats how it all started.
