COMPONENTS OF THE WET CHEMICAL
KITCHEN SUPPRESSION SYSTEM:
Propelled by the pressurised nitrogen in the cylinders,
pure water is pushed through the specialized rotor.
Here some of the propellant (nitrogen) is also released
into the water pipe via the air tube to create a bubbled
mixture of water and nitrogen which arrives at the
nozzle. This creates a pulsed output of nitrogen and
water from the nozzle to form a very fine mist of less
than 54 microns.
The Watermist is discharged from strategically located
nozzles, installed in the hood, plenum and in all
exhaust ducts and covers all possible fire risk areas.
Simultaneously, the valve connected to the gas fuel line
and electrical supply line can be shut down, preventing
further heating of cooking oil. With the source of
energy blocked and Watermist converting to steam,
heat is rapidly removed from the fire zone.
Features:
Automatic detection and actuation
Can be manually actuated.
Watermist effectively prevents re-ignition
Use of pure water ensures the kitchen is back in
service quickly
Flexible piping configurations for a streamlined
design and easy installation
Available in a variety of sizes that can be
customised as needed for each application.
Fully assembled and 100% tested mechanical
control head ensures reliable operation.
The system’s most prominent feature - a specially
designed heat-sensitive pneumatic polymid tube,
is installed to run unobtrusively throughout the area
at risk. When a fire breaks out, the heat-sensitive tube
detects the rise in temperature and punctures at that
point. This triggers the system which releases the
Wet Chemical extinguishing agent through a separate
discharge line and expels it through state-of-the-art
nozzles, dousing the flames by smothering them with
the spray of specialised foam and bringing down the
temperature to below combustion levels.
FEATURES:
Automatic detection and actuation
Utilises stored pressure technology
Can be manually actuated
Highly effective firefighting medium prevents
re-ignition by cooling the temperature of the heated oil

Steam forms a blanket over the cooking oil and
smothers the flames and the fire is quickly brought
under control. What’s more, the mist’s cooling effect
also minimises any chances of re-ignition. The Firechief
Kitchen Suppression System de-activates when the
supply of gas or water is exhausted.
