Day 22 Springdale to Flagstaff (498km)
It was an early, 7.15am start today - just as the
sunrise was creeping over the hills that loom over
the town of Springdale.
The solar radiation was a welcome presence, as the first
regularity at Sheep Bridge got underway. Here the cars
tackled a short gravel route, with a couple of interesting
navigational quirks thrown in. we also crossed the State line
again into Arizona - the Copper State. This time there’s no
going back, from here the next border will be Mexican.

Unfortunately, John and daisy pyle misjudged a corner
through this section and slid slowly into a ditch, where they
waited to be recovered by Charlie neale and Andy Inskip.
The car was towed to a nearby town for some welding. The
crew are absolutely fine - if a little abashed by all of the
attention. once the car has been straightened out they will
rejoin the rally in Tucson.
The second regularity, through the warm Springs Canyon,
was along another gravel track clinging to the sides of the
canyon. The track narrowed as it climbed into woods that
were once charred and blackened by wild fires, but were
