A much shorter day today but one with a little
more packed into it and, at the end of it all, the
promise of a very decent post prandial snifter.
The first job was to get the cars out of the car park where,
quite appropriately for our location, they’d expertly been
packed by Jim Smith like sardines in a can. Some spilled
over into the courtyard providing a talking point for the
other guests. Once untangled it was a relaxed 9am start and
an easy 41km of minor roads to the first Section around
Saint Mard. Here the crews zig-zagged their way through
9km of the most singular of single carriage roads.
Another sequence of interesting roads took the cars
south west to Rochefort and across the marais to a Passage
Control in Brouage. Time had been allowed for the crews to
enjoy a coffee and take a walk within the walls of the 16th
century citadel once famed for its export of black salt. The
