Guts UK is the only UK charity funding research into
the digestive system from top to tail; the gut, liver and
pancreas. Our vision is of a world where digestive diseases
are better understood, better treated and everyone who
lives with one gets the support they need.
Our guts have been underfunded, undervalued and
underrepresented for decades. Guts UK’s research leads to
earlier diagnoses, kinder treatments and ultimately a cure.
It’s time the UK got to grips with guts.
Help scientists turn determination into life-changing
discoveries. Remember your loved one by funding the
research of tomorrow.

FOUNDATION FOR LIVER RESEARCH
HELP US FIGHT LIVER DISEASE
We all know that too much alcohol is bad for the liver
but just how much is too much? And did you know
that obesity is just as significant a cause of liver
disease? And for those drinkers who are overweight,
the impact on the liver is even more damaging.
Scientists in the Institute of Hepatology, funded by
the Foundation for Liver Research, are investigating
the mechanisms of liver damage from lifestyle injuries
of excess alcohol and obesity, as well as hepatitis
B, gut-liver and brain-liver interactions, and the
impact of alcohol and other hepatotoxic injuries.
They are also looking into the contribution of general
environmental factors and genetic susceptibility
to liver disease.
ONE IN 10 PEOPLE WILL DEVELOP LIVER DISEASE
Liver disease is the only major cause of mortality which is
on the increase in the UK - last year it killed more people
than diabetes and road deaths combined. Sadly, in too many
cases diagnosis comes too late for effective treatment.
Please consider a donation, or a legacy in your Will,
to the Foundation for Liver Research, to support
research by the Foundation’s team of scientists.
You may be helping someone you know have
a better chance of surviving liver disease.
The Foundation depends on donations to fund its
research. Please help us continue our work.
