Conclusions
The current study presents the shift towards more complex endovascular
procedures in hybrid theatre. Although it is important to note choice
between endovascular and open surgery should be based on individual
patient characteristics, aneurysm anatomy, and the surgeon’s
expertise, not all patients are suitable candidates for endovascular, and
careful patient selection is crucial to achieve the best outcomes in the
management of aortic aneurysms That said, the increase in complexity,
age and multimorbidity of the current demographic presents a patient
population that would potentially be best served by a less invasive
approach, in a theatre best equipped to facilitate this.
