Heart of Kent Hospice, and how you can get involved
Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing outstanding care to people living with a terminal illness in
Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge, Malling and surrounding areas since 1991. Last year we cared for
1,703 patients and their families. Our care is local, free and is offered to everyone who needs it.
It is over seven months since coronavirus forced us all to change how we live our everyday lives but the
urgent need for end-of-life care still continues. Sadly, we are beginning to see the impact of coronavirus
on local families that missed treatment or diagnosis and referrals to our Hospice in August reached a
It has been a hugely challenging time with the cancellation of fundraising events and the initial closure
of all our shops creating a substantial drop in income. We have welcomed the support of our local
community and some Government funding; however, we are still facing a significant gap in the funds we
will need to raise to care for our patients and their families.
Over the past few months, we have been busy looking at innovative and engaging ways to continue
our services, which cost £4 million a year to run, with over £3 million raised through the generosity of
our local community. And now, we are excited to present the Art of Kent auction as a new alternative
fundraising activity, which will help the Hospice to recover some of the funds that were lost when our
traditional fundraising activities stopped, almost overnight, in April.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all our contributing artists, Bid-In Group and sponsor
Camellia PLC for their enormous generosity, kindness and support of the Art of Kent auction. We are
thrilled to be able to present a wonderful selection of arts, all available to bid on and purchase, with all
funds raised going to Heart of Kent Hospice.
With your support of the Art of Kent auction we can ensure that our compassionate care continues
now and into the future.
