Karen Newton-Anker is the Community Partnerships Fundraiser for Heart of Kent Hospice. She
has always been creative and comes from a long-line of artists - her 17th century forefathers
used to paint the coats of arms on horse drawn carriages.
“Lion” is Karen’s third piece of ink pointillism and the first in a series of wildlife artwork.
“I love the intricacy of this medium and how I can use varying pen sizes to build and develop
depth and tone.” The original Lion portrait is A3 size and, with a full-time job, took two years to
complete off and on. Often mistaken for a photograph the portrait is entirely made up of small
dots. How many do you think there are?
