Cotton thread and MDF
Fine art artist Lizzie Hill works with threads and the language of the loom to allow her to
explore tension in many different guises. She uses the relationship between warp and weft in
a weave to help illustrate and illuminate stresses between spatial planes, materials and ideas.
Lizzie’s work explores a diverse range of human tensions and with the use of contrasting
materials, such as concrete and cotton thread, it allows her work to investigate the physical
boundaries of material tension, further illustrating the competing and conflicting pressures
that surround us.
