Madlark Willow Pattern Bracelet
Victorian pottery mudlarked from
the Thames set with lapis lazuli
Madeleine Marsh is an artist, writer and specialist in post war collectables. She has also
appeared as an expert on the BBC Antiques Roadshow and presented for a wide range of
television documentaries and historical programmes.
Today Madeleine works as an artist specialising in sculpture and jewellery. Her creations
typically tell a story and often draw their inspiration from history. Madeleine’s “Madlark“
collection is made from items mudlarked from the River Thames which are then transformed
into individual works of art. These discarded fragments tell the story of London across
the centuries demonstrating what we ate and drank, reflecting the everyday lives of past
generations. Madeleine rescues these lost and broken pieces, researches their history and
then brings them back to life in a new form. Their visual beauty is restored and each piece of
Madlark jewellery is unique.
Madeleine has kindly donated a bespoke ‘Madlark’ bracelet for the Art of Kent auction; it truly
is one of a kind.
