Jim Moir (Vic Reeves)
British Bird Colour Wheel
Signed limited edition giclee print
The “Visual Ramblings of Jim Moir” aka Vic Reeves explores how his many
artistic influences have come together to produce such a wide-ranging and
eclectic output, while evoking the importance of performance to all his creative
endeavours. His works range from drawings and collages to large scale paintings,
photography, pottery and limited-edition prints, woodcuts and etchings all with
hints of wit and absurdity.
As fans of this giant of TV comedy might expect, Vic Reeves artwork mixes the
surreal and the mundane in a seriously amusing way. Ram-raiding disparate sources of contemporary
iconography from celebrities to wildlife and explosives, Reeves’ playfully deranged works are held
together by their stylistic tact and control.
Although Jim Moir is predominately known as a comedian, he has always considered himself primarily
an artist. In the mid 80’s he moved to New Cross where he began a performance art piece in a local pub,
The Goldsmiths Tavern, which he called Vic Reeves’ Big Night Out, and the rest as they say is history.
Jim Moir has generously donated a limited-edition print of British Bird Colour Wheel from its second
print run for the Art of Kent auction. The first print run sold out within 24 hours.
