A TRICK-Y TIME
Our friend Louise Glazebrook, dog behaviourist,
trainer and founder of The Darling Dog Company
has shared a great make-at-home stress
reliever, suitable for all our friends regardless
of age, size and ability.
Leave this page open for your owner,
let them get crafty and then get stuck in!
You will need:
• Spare fabric (an old towel,
bedsheets or t-shirt is perfect)
• Scissors
• Small treats
MAKE YOUR OWN
STRESS RELIEVING GAME
A game that takes brain power can be a welcome distraction when
you’re feeling stressed or anxious.
Step 1.
Cut your fabric into strips.
For small dogs, cut the lengths to
30cm, for bigger breeds go up to
1m. Aim for a width of between
5-10cm.
Step 2.
Plait the strips together tying a
knot at either end. If your dog is
determined, then tie nice and tight.
For puppies and smaller dogs, you
can leave it a little looser.
Step 3.
Lay your plait flat on the ground
and place your treats down its
length. Let your dog find the treats.
Step 4.
Next, push one treat into a plait
crevice and leave one on top,
alternating down the plait. Let
your dog search for the treats.
Step 5.
Increase the number of treats
stuffed into the plait and as your
dog gets the hang of it, tighten
the plait.
Make it fun! Pulling the fabric
apart to find your treat is a
great way to play, relieve
stress and pass some time
indoors!
