THE DAILY DOG
8.30am: Woof, woof, woof – what a beautiful sunny
day! As a busy girl in the dog-eat-dog
world of London town, I’d have jumped
straight into my emails. Isolation means
I’ve got more time on my paws. So, I
sneak upstairs and hop into the family
bed for an extra hour’s snooze.
9.30am: Y aaaawn…time for my walk in the
wonderful Three Peaks with my pals,
Tilly, Mac, Matilda and David. I’m not
one to chase after the boys, but if I
spot a rabbit or pheasant on my travels,
I’ll always hound them down.
10.30am:I’m lucky in that I don’t have to watch my
weight; otherwise my isolation body
might go to the dogs. I kick-start my day
with a breakfast of champions. Mac, Tilly
and I will sit in a row, then jump for our
biscuits as Matilda throws them into the
air. They may be small, but my ears can
hear the spring of the toaster from a
mile off. So, we’ll inhale our biscuits –
quick as a flash –then sit grinning up at
David. He may think he’s top dog, but we
all know that his tasty marmalade
toastie really belongs to me.
THE LIFE AND QUARANTINE TIMES
OF DAVID GANDY’S DOG, DORA
Dora is a three-year-old (ish) terrier-cross, who proudly came from Battersea Dogs Home
to join model David Gandy and his family. She’s currently seeing out isolation with David, his
partner Stephanie, their one-year-old daughter Matilda – along with Tilly the golden
Labradoodle and Mac the cross-Lab-something-or-other on the Lancashire/Yorkshire
border. From mud masks to marmalade, Dora reveals a ‘day-in-the-life’ through her
isolation diary.
11.30am: A little self-care does wonders for the
self-esteem, doesn’t it? My regular salon is
closed, worse luck, so I’m relying on David
for grooming. He was lucky to snap-up
some clippers from Amazon before they
sold out. I like my vibe to remain shabby
chic, but every so often, he’ll trim off my
beard and give me a quick tidy. It really
does take years off my face!
2.00pm: Afternoons are for taking it easy. Maybe
I’ll Zoom some friends or catch up on the
news in The Daily Tail. Then take some
time to digitally disconnect.
4.00pm: Ooph! Doing nothing all day sure is tiring!
I’ll slope off to hide in Matilda’s princess
castle for a bit of me-time. Funny, but my
owners just never think to find me there.
5.30pm:Snooze you lose! I’m up and at it
– bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. It’s time
for our second walk of the day, and this
time Stephanie is in charge. I never say
no to a good old dig. Despite his model
credentials, David’s not convinced
whenever I tell him that an occasional
mud mask is really amazing for one’s skin.
6.30pm: Dried food with a side of chicken or fish
– plenty of protein and essential fatty
acids keep my coat in its prime.
8.30pm: N etflix time! Tilly and I are binge-watching
Season 2 of The Corgi right now. It’s a
totally fascinating exposé of what it’s
really like to lead the way for someone
called The Queen. Between you and I, it’s
a bit risqué. I just hope the royal equines
don’t renounce their HRH (Her Royal
Horse) title and flee for LA.
