Welcome to the latest issue of Practical FM magazine.
With the long dry hot weather in the UK showing little sign of ending, the
amount of single- use plastic water bottles has surely risen sharply. Whilst it
is vitally important to keep well hydrated, the problem of the plastic waste is
a huge environmental concern.
We have an article looking at a potential solution to this problem. On page
5 there is an article form Zip water with ideas on how to keep plastic waste
to a minimum.
Our cover story starting on page 20 is from Mersive Technologies and is
looking at their work with De Montfort University in installing Solstice Pods
to enable wireless content sharing throughout the campus. This technology
has allowed users to wirelessly share content on collaborative displays
enabling both teachers and students in a single room to easily share
information from any device enabling a more creative and inclusive learning
environment.
Soloprotect, the international lone worker safety company, has recently
launched an innovative new addition to its product range. The ID Pro’s
video function, offers streaming video and accompanying audio directly in
to an alarm receiving centre which is a huge advantage in providing
responses to a ‘red alert’ situation. Take a look at page 24 for all of the
details.
Elsewhere, we have news stories, case studies and new product details
from all over the FM world.
Our website www.practicalfm.co.uk and our Twitter account @practicalfm
are now updated daily with all of the very latest news. Do take a look
sometime if you get chance.
I hope that you enjoy the magazine. You are welcome to leave any
feedback via email to anne@practicalfm.co.uk .
