CONNECTING CLASSROOMS
Students film tourist attraction in Spanish!
Year 8 have been enjoying taking part in a pen
pal scheme with a partner school in Granada,
Spain. The partner school wanted to find out a
little more about Chester and as the students
have already written about the city in previous
letters, they wanted to showcase our biggest
tourist attraction, Chester Zoo.
During the trip students filmed a tour of the zoo
for their pen friends putting the Spanish they
have learned this year into a real life context. In
the film they introduced their favourite animals in
Spanish, explaining where they live and the
reasons why they are endangered. They also
took part in conservation themed activities to
highlight some of the careers that languages can
benefit.
The trip was an ideal opportunity for students to
improve and develop their communication skills
through group tasks, as well as practising their
Spanish speaking skills with other teenagers,
whilst proudly showcasing the best of Chester.
It was very insightful

Year 8 did a great job recording their
favourite animal in Spanish and we got
some great footage to send to our
partner school. They really enjoyed
getting out of the classroom and using
their Spanish in a real-life context
and we're so proud of their standard.
