LOCAL MP VISIT
A day in the life
Acts of Spanish Kindness
Year 7 have been using all the language
they have learned so far this year to
write an email to a Spanish animal
shelter. They have all chosen a favourite
rescued animal and written to the charity
about themselves and how they would
be a responsible pet owner. They were
thrilled to receive personalised
messages back from the charity and will
be completing fund raising activities later
in the year to support the excellent work
they do!
It was an exciting day for Key Stage 3 (KS3) students on the 10th
June, when a very special guest came to visit them at Queen’s
Park High School! Miss Oliver invited our local MP, Chris
Matheson to spend a morning at our school speaking to students
and having a whistle stop tour of the school site, which he has not
seen for a few years.
Chris was really impressed with the fantastic facilities we have
here at Queen’s Park and was amazed by our incredible KS3
students; two of which Mia and Quinn walked Chris around and
gave him an insight to a day in the life of a student here at Queen’s
Park High.
All KS3 students got the chance to hear how Chris became an MP
for Chester. He discussed what role he plays in the community,
what work he does in London, why he wanted to be an MP and
how he got there and finally what was required in order to serve in
the Public Sector.
In addition to their letters, Miss
Adamson's Year 7 tutor group have
been busy baking sweet treats for a cake
bake sale to raise money for the charity
raised an amazing £42.75!
As well as hearing from Chris, students also got the opportunity to
ask him a question. Prior to his visit, students were challenged
during their tutor time to think of a question that could be asked to
Chris. From over 30 questions, Miss Oliver managed to whittle it
down to the lucky six!

charity please visit:
Well done to Oscar (7IKP), Poppy (7JOS), Jayden (8KEL), Jack
(8JOE), Tayla (9WAS) and Tom (9NIX) for coming up with their
insightful questions, articulating them perfectly as well as being a
role model to all of our students within KS3.
