Theatre Trip
Whilst theatres have been open for a
while, it has been some time since the
school offered a theatre trip to GCSE
and A Level students as part of their
studies.
Our drama exam board gave the option
for students to write about filmed
productions as part of their final
examinations, however Mr Yeoman
wanted to take the students to see live
theatre to re-ignite their passion for what
can be achieved on the professional
stage. So, in May students went to see
The Royal Court's production of Macca
and Beth in Liverpool.
The production was a brilliant scouse
farce focusing on both the fortunes and
misfortunes of the protagonist, Macca,
who along with his girlfriend, Beth,
discover that he is the heir to a great
fortune as he visits the family home in
the wilds of Scotland.
The students really appreciated the
performance and the opportunity to
experience live theatre again.
Special Effects workshop
As part of the school's commitment to
the development of teachers, we work in
close partnership with a number of initial
teacher training providers to provide
opportunities for student teachers to
develop their skills in the classroom.
Miss Ramsey joined the drama
department over four months this year.
Sharing her own skills with Year 9
students they worked on their own
devised performances.
Using professional stage makeup,
students were guided in making their
own gruesome special effects which
were extremely realistic! Thankfully, our
first aid officer had been warned about
the activity in advance!
