Anfield Abseil for 82-year-old Adventurer John!
Brave 82-year-old John Blackhurst took on and completed an abseil of An昀椀eld Stadium in aid of
Queenscourt Hospice.
John decided to take on the abseil after #teamqueenscourt provided palliative care for his daughter’s husband
and for his granddaughter’s husband.
As a lifelong Liverpool FC supporter, the challenge was a perfect 昀椀t for John – he even touched the Liverpool sign on the side of the
building on his way down!
John said: “I took on the challenge in memory of two young men who have been lost over the past six years, who experienced exceptional
compassionate care from Queenscourt. It’s a very special place, the people who work there are amazing. It was a fantastic experience – I
thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Hayley Jones, Community and Challenge Events Fundraiser at Queenscourt Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to John for choosing to
fundraise for #teamqueenscourt. We hope that John’s courage in taking on this challenge will inspire others – at any age!”

London Marathon Runners Roundup
Helen Goodwin, Helen Wagsta昀昀, James Jones, James Sta昀昀ord, Laura Rose, Liz Stringman, Matthew Warren, Simon Ra昀昀erty,
Thomas Cunli昀昀e, Tom Lissett and Heather Culshaw are the names of the 11 incredible people who took on the iconic London
Marathon 2023, to raise money for Queenscourt.
Queenscourt is delighted that two of this year’s runners actually work at the hospice. Both Helen Wagsta昀昀 (Specialist and Supportive
Palliative Care Coordinator) and Laura Rose (Palliative Care Nurse Specialist), jumped at the chance to take part in the 26.2-mile marathon
that took them past the fantastic sights of London. Queenscourt sta昀昀 really do go above and beyond in their roles for our local hospice.
#teamqueenscourt’s excellent eleven between them have raised more than £20,000.
Queenscourt places are currently 昀椀lled for the London Marathon 2024, but if you fancy taking part in 2025, please email
fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk to express your interest.
