Nearly New
November
November will see the
return of Queenscourt’s
Nearly New November
campaign which aims
to promote the value
of shopping locally in one of Queenscourt’s charity shops,
whilst also highlighting the important environmental aspects
of recycling and ‘upcycling’ clothes.
Pre-loved fashion encourages people to recycle their old clothes,
which not only provides valuable income for our charity shops, but
also helps to keep the unwanted items out of land昀椀ll.
All of our retail shops (including our online eBay store) stock
a wealth of pre-loved items, and throughout our Nearly New
November campaign we will be showcasing on our social media
channels, just a few of the great items we have for sale across
Queenscourt Retail.
In addition to showcasing pre-loved items for sale, our Nearly
New November campaign will promote the bene昀椀ts of donating
your unwanted items, rather than throwing them away to end up in
land昀椀ll. This initiative also helps to ensure Queenscourt Retail has
a constant 昀氀ow of interesting items for sale by encouraging people
to donate their unwanted clothes and bric-a-brac.

Musical Fundraiser has Real Soul!
Queenscourt Hospice would like to say a huge thank you to
The Stanley Soul Club for hosting its Northern Soul /Motown
Charity ‘alldayer’ in aid of #teamqueenscourt.
Joan Rimmer (as well as working for Queenscourt Retail)
regularly hosts a Northern Soul / Motown night at The Stanley
Club in Burscough, along with her husband Steve, and we were
delighted that this year they chose to support Queenscourt as their
nominated charity.
The day started at 2pm and lasted until 9pm, with music from
special guest DJs and resident DJs as well as lots of dancing with
friends and visitors.
Joan said: “What a busy but fun day we had raising money
for Queenscourt. It was a small gathering, but everyone gave
generously for this worthy cause.
“We were supported by our regular loyal friends and guests plus
we had the pleasure of Hayley Malcolm and Ron Taylor’s company,
who also work for Queenscourt Retail, and Retail Volunteers Carl
Ashcroft, Sue and Alan Pro昀케t and Ruth Jones.
“Big thanks to Ruth for donating
the star ra昀툀e prize of a new Jasper
Conran wrist-watch and Hayley
who drew the winning
ra昀툀e tickets.”
Almost 70 ra昀툀e prizes were
donated by family members, soul
friends, Queenscourt colleagues
and Tesco.
Joan added: “We were amazed
and pleased to have raised the
sum of £416 and we would like to
thank everyone so very much for your kind donations.”

Charlotte said: “I have always been driven to do something which
makes a di昀昀erence, and when the opportunity with Queenscourt
Retail came up, it felt like a great chance to be part of a team which
ultimately helps to keep a vital service running!
#teamqueenscourt, and it’s great to be able to be a bigger part of
that fundraising e昀昀ort.
“Queenscourt has always had a prominent place in my life, and I
have done the annual Star Trekk walk for the past 10 years. Many
of us have had someone who has needed the wonderful care of the
“I really enjoy being part of the team and the work we do, and it’s
interesting to see the variety of items we get to sell online. It’s also
great to work alongside our lovely volunteers.”
