CANABIS AWARENESS
SESSION
Lindsey had received a referral from a Community Police Officer in the Hull area. The referral
involved a Female offender who was the passenger in a car that had been searched in Hull.
Female offender was found in possession of a controlled drug – class B Cannabis.
Lindsey delivered a cannabis awareness session which included: What cannabis is? The impact
using / possession and supply of cannabis can have on criminal record, finances, careers,
relationships, health and mental health.
The offender responded really well to the Cannabis awareness
session today, she actively listened to the sections
covered and gave real life examples. The offender actually
reflected on the subject of the impact cannabis has on
health / mental health and she identified that she is now
seeing the impact cannabis has, seeing her friends who use
it long term display paranoia, anxiety and depression. In my
observation the health side of it as well as the legal side of the
session was really useful and we chatted around this a lot.
MAKE A VICTIM AWARENESS REFERRAL
It is not vital, but obviously helpful, if the Service User is taking some responsibility for their part in the offence.
Suitable offences for victim awareness sessions include:
Criminal damage
Theft
Burglary
Common Assault
We DO NOT take on domestic assaults or sexual
crimes.
If in doubt – just ask and we will let you know.
A great referral includes:
Service User’s full name
Service User’s DOB
Service User’s contact details
Date of offence
Type of offence
Any risk factors the RJ practitioner
needs to know.
