HEALTHY LIVING
Simple tips for a healthy lifestyle
EAT NUTRITIOUS FOOD
A key part of any healthy lifestyle is eating a balanced diet from a variety
of different foods. Our bodies require a mixture of protein, carbohydrates,
fat, vitamins, and minerals to stay in good shape. However, too much
food of any kind is bad for you, particularly junk and fast food (burgers,
chips etc.), and convenience foods (ready meals etc.). Make sure you're
eating plenty of fresh whole foods to maintain a nutritional balance.
MOVE YOUR BODY
It needn't take much to keep muscles and joints in good working order so
long as you move your body regularly. Exercise helps your body to deal
with sickness and burn calories, and can contribute towards improved
mental wellbeing. Simple activities like taking a daily walk can help
maintain a healthy balance between food intake and energy expenditure.
It also helps to avoid excessive weight gain.
GET ENOUGH REST
Good sleep and rest ensures your body has chance to repair and recover,
especially from illness and injury. Rest helps to improve concentration,
keeps your heart healthy, maintains a good immune system, looks after
your mental wellbeing, and reduces stress levels, all contributing to a
happier and healthier physical body and headspace. You need at least 7
hours of sleep per night to maintain a healthy balance.
DRINK FRESH WATER
Our bodies are approximately 60% water and dehydration is bad for
physical and mental health. Drinking plenty of fresh water helps maintain
hydration levels, which in turn improves concentration and memory,
helps you to maintain a healthy weight, may improve exercise
performance, and prevents health issues such as digestion problems.
You should aim to drink at least 1.5 litres of fluid a day.
