Employers who have signed up to the Armed Forces
Covenant have an exciting new platform to access
a potentially rich talent pool; completely free of
charge. Forces Families Jobs (FFJ) is a brand new
go-to place for training and employment for family
members of serving UK military personnel which
went live on 17 September 2019.
This platform allows family members to apply for
jobs and training opportunities with companies
and organisations who are forces family friendly –
who understand the unique challenges that come
with being a family member in the Armed Forces.
They can do so with confidence in knowing that
employers have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
or are able to demonstrate their commitment to the
Armed Forces.
The need for FFJ
Recent research into the three services (Army,
Navy and Airforce) conducted by Warwick Institute
for Employment Research resulted in a key
recommendation, the need to create a central
portal for employment and training opportunities
for military spouses and family members.
Being a military family member often means moving
with the service person, gaps in CVs and regularly
changing jobs and/or career.
The FFJ team have ensured that all employers who
advertise on the site have signed the Armed Forces
Covenant. Their profiles can be found within the
‘Employers Directory’ section, where they explain
their individual commitment to being forces family
The website showcases a range of training and
career development opportunities for forces family
Training and career support
The platform offers advice and information about
training courses including CV building, business
start-up programmes (much of which is free),
funding, career events, insight days and discounted
